This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS.  This position is in the Excepted Service.

Duties

This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).  The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level.  The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

MAJOR DUTIES: AEROSPACE ENGINEER

·        Performs engineering analysis of signals data from foreign spacecraft; determines the performance and capabilities of the spacecraft including its mission, operational usage and payload type

·        Determines the best method for processing and analyzing the instrumentation signals data and develops new analytical techniques and engineering methods to evaluate complex spacecraft payloads and subsystems

·        Directs the work of signals processors and computer software development engineers that support his data reduction and analysis projects

·        Formulates signal collection requirements used to task national-level collection assets; provides feedback to collection and processing agencies to ensure requirements are met and to improve the quality and timeliness of the signals data

·        Prepares authoritative reports and briefings on the results of analysis and represents the NAIC's position on spacecraft signals analysis efforts and findings at national and international-level meetings, conferences, and working groups
