    Summary

    The Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate is seeking to hire a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) in the Quality Engineering Branch (QEB) (Code 373). As a QAE you will be responsible for the development and implementation of solutions, systems, and engineering improvement strategies to ensure mission success of GSFC projects.

    Responsibilities

    The duties described below are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

    As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) you will serve as an expert in quality, responsible for the establishment, coordination, and execution of the policies and procedures necessary to implement quality assurance programs. You will establish quality assurance requirements to be included in contracts and purchase orders and utilize aspects of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) to define and establish the steps necessary to ensure quality requirements are met.

    You will provide authoritative independent verification to ensure critical quality assurance engineering factors are implemented correctly during all phases of project or mission including design, and development phase. You will review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy in areas such as flight systems, fluid and flight mechanics, or propulsion and power, or materials and structures.

    You will develop guidelines and serve as a focal point for integration of all quality assurance program elements to ensure mission success. You will also conduct continuing studies and analyses to determine the feasibility of various advanced quality engineering approaches, to define concepts and criteria for future projects/missions, or to resolve the most challenging and controversial problems in current projects/missions.
