Responsibilities include creating, performing, reviewing or checking detailed structural, civil and hydraulic designs and analyses; preparing and reviewing design, analysis, risk analyses, and documentation; and, developing and reviewing laboratory materials testing and field reviews.

Location: Technical Service Center, Civil Engineering Services Division, Water Conveyance Group, Lakewood, CO.
Position is being advertised concurrently under BR-DO-2017-006, for current federal employees serving under a competitive service career or career-conditional appointment or reinstatement eligible. -Prepares, reviews, and/or directs advanced detailed designs and analyses, layout and final design efforts for the construction of water conveyance systems, fish facilities, tunnels, roads, bridges, appurtenant structures, and other related features.
-Leads and/or serves on multi-discipline teams whose function is to design or study above features.
-Reviews, prepares, and/or directs the preparation of comparative quantity and cost estimates.
-Develops design criteria outlining special specifications requirements to be followed by engineers and technicians in the group, including location, type, and loading assumptions of structures with related features; develops innovative solutions to engineering problems.
-Utilizes existing Reclamation computer programs and/or commercial software to analyze and design project features; prepares Design Summaries as a record for features designed.
-Counsels field designers on design matters and provides guidance to foreign engineers as part of their training at the Technical Service Center.
