About the Agency
The Independent Verification and Validation (IVandV) Facility (Code 180) seeks an experienced individual to serve as a Computer Engineer. In addition, this position will serve as a Software Systems Engineer. The work involves evaluation of software systems for use in flight and ground data systems.

The duties described below are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
As a Computer Engineer, specializing in Software Systems, you will conduct IV&V and project management activities. You will develop and implement project management procedures, tools, templates, activities, and infrastructure. You will provide project management training and assistance to technical staff. You will plan and manage the software IV&V project activities and activities for major NASA programs, including budget. You will serve as liaison between customer organizations and the IV&V Program Office in order to negotiate cost, service, and delivery of IV&V services. This effort includes all aspects of the customer interfacing, such as, developing the recommended tasks, negotiating task content and scope, defining resource requirements, and formalizing agreements pertaining to involved work.
As a technical expert, you will research and implement software IV&V approaches, tools, and methodologies appropriate to the unique design and operational characteristics of selected programs and projects. You will integrate, manage, and coordinate software IV&V activities across multiple management and technical interfaces in support of overall IV&V mission, goals, and objectives. You will provide technical insight to support NASA missions in meeting system and software security requirements. You will support analysis of potential security vulnerabilities and potential solutions to the vulnerabilities on existing missions. You will provide support to agency wide efforts to ensure no NASA mission is harmed due to a security threat. You will support cross agency information exchange in order to increase knowledge of potential threats to NASA missions.
You will work with all levels of local management and program officials, key personnel of other Agency locations, other government agencies, and private industry to identify, resolve and track problems and assure the overall resolution of issues. You will participate in special studies of critical software IV&V problems. You will consult with all levels of management, headquarters personnel, other federal agencies, and with foreign and commercial organizations in the research, development, or use of application tools, algorithms, software systems, hardware, or equipment.
You will conduct expert technical reviews of professional studies, research, and analysis for direct application to major projects and programs at the organization or agency. You will serve on a technical review committees for NASA software assurance policies, procedures, and standards.
