    Summary

    This position is located in the UN Management and Reform (UNMR) section of the Mission.  UNMR represents U.S. interests and ensures implementation of U.S. policies in the area of administration, personnel, management, and financing of the United Nations and the New York-based UN organizations.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as Senior Adviser on policy issues for the United States Representative for Management and Reform to the United Nations.  S/he is responsible and accountable for the following:

    Serves as a key member of the Mission’s management team, contributing fully to the development of critical and sensitive foreign policy goals, strategies, objectives, plans, programs, decisions and actions.

    Provides leadership and executive expertise for the planning, direction, coordination and evaluation of the section’s work on UN-related budgetary, financial, personnel and management issues.

    Serves as adviser to the U.S. Representative on other UN bodies that deal with administrative and budgetary matters, including, inter alia, UNICEF and UNDP.

    Coordinates with U.S. expert members on the Joint Inspection Unit, the international Civil Service Commission and the Committee on Contributions.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - 10% of the duties will require travel.
