    Summary

    A successful candidate in this position will...

    • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert to the Office of Science, Integrated Support Center (ISC) on Fire Safety and Fire Protection engineering issues.
    • Provide advice, oversight, and supervision in the investigation or development of fire protection projects.
    • Review and provide oversight of design, construction, inspection, testing, operation, or maintenance of firefighting or fire protection apparatus, appliances, devices and systems, or the testing of fire resistant materials.

    Responsibilities

    As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will:

    • Serve as a Fire Protection Engineer and Subject Matter Expert providing expertise on the application of fire protection engineering, technical standards and practices.
    • Serve as an advisor on all matters related to fire protection construction problems, resolve conflicts in design and actual field conditions, review value engineering proposals and reviewing shop drawings.
    • Keep abreast of changes to codes, regulations, consensus standards, standards, products and design features and applying this knowledge to the development of design criteria.
    • Perform assessments and investigations and oversee contractor Systems Engineering programs to confirm that safety systems meet established safety and mission requirements.
    • Advise management on the status of fire protection programs, issues, assessment findings, and other matters involving communicating and interfacing with multiple entities.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - Travel will be required to attend meetings, training, conferences, and/or performance of assigned oversight duties.
