    This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

    This is an interdisciplinary position (or inter-occupational position) and may be filled as any of the following:
    Physical Scientist: GG-1301-12
    Nuclear Engineer: GG-0840-12

    The primary purpose of this position is to reviews all measurement data to ensure that calibration issues, instrument or system malfunctions, or general data problems are identified and addressed prior to reporting.

    • Responsible for determining the data quality control and assessment processes that will be used and for the overall training of the Quality Assurance/Quality Control personnel in the nuclear measurements laboratory.
    • Makes decisions on the appropriate mathematical procedures used to compare data from nuclear samples across the wide spectrum of concentrations, varying from near background, up to concentrations expected from atmospheric nuclear weapon tests.
    • Completes all required laboratory radiation and hazardous materials safety training and ensures that personnel assigned to their team follow appropriate safety requirements and precautions when dealing with hazardous samples.
