The Licensed Practical Nurse assigned to the VA Portland Health Care System, Specialty Care Clinic provides outpatient clinical services for the subspecialties of Medicine, Surgery, and Neurology. The LPN functions as a team member under the guidance of the Registered Nurse. The incumbent is adaptable and functions with minimal direction with the ability to prioritize and adjust care in response to clinic flow needs. Performs patient centered care to Veterans throughout the lifespan, completes clinical reminders and medication reconciliation. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for nursing care, including, but not limited to medication administration, wound care treatments, home meter downloading, various urologic procedures, suture and staple removal, capillary blood glucose testing, equipment assisted care and be able to recognize deviations from normal. The incumbent is also responsible for patient education and documentation.
WORK SCHEDULE: Variable hours, Monday through Friday between 7:00am and 7:00pm
NOTE: The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-6. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-4 to GS-6.
