The incumbent is a Medical Instrument Technician performing the full range of electrocardiograph (EKG) and related duties in support of cardiac stress testing, and the pacemaker clinic for the Veterans served by the Cardiology Department.  to operate and monitor the electrocardiographic equipment in the clinic to include Treadmill, Holter Monitors, event monitors, and 12 lead EKG machines. the incumbent performs special and routine test on adult patients, male and female.  This position is located in the Cardiology Department, Puget Sound health Care system - Seattle, WA and provides back-up coverage at the American lake campus.  The Cardiology EKG Clinic provides health care to Veterans throughout VISN 20. 


Duties includes but may not be limited to the following:

· Performs daily EKG on in and out patients

·Consults with Cardiologist with critical EKG values

·Assists with EKG for Pacemaker Tele-clinic

·Assists cardiologist perform during procedure recording blood pressure and calling abnormalities.

· Instructs patient and demonstrates use of treadmill

·Prepares patient prior to procedure and notifies physician when preliminary test are complete and ready to start.

·Performs daily QA on EKG equipment

·Instructs patients and other hospital staff about exam preparations and special orders

· Conducts Holter Monitor procedures

·Transfers EKG and Monitor results to develop computer generated treatment plans

· Performs daily QA on EKG Lab equipment

·Instructs patients and other hospital staff about exam preparations and special orders

·Assists Cardiologist with Treadmills for optimum treatment planning

· Fabricates custom devices as needed

Working Hours: Tour of duties may range from 730 AM to 4:00 PM and 0800-430 PM
