The U.S. Pacific Fleet is headquartered at historic Pearl Harbor on Oahu, the third-largest island in Hawaii. Described by Mark Twain as "the loveliest fleet of islands that lies anchored in any ocean," Hawaii is America's 50th state and its gateway to the Pacific. The diversity of Hawaii's people, culture and food are unmatched in the United States. Its mild climate and natural beauty provide year-round opportunities to enjoy the outdoors - one reason Hawaii is often ranked among the nation's healthiest states.
From Hollywood to Bollywood and from Polar Bears to Penguins, the U.S. Pacific Fleet area of responsibility encompasses nearly half the Earth's surface. This dynamic, diverse environment offers the Navy's most operationally challenging careers. As the naval components for U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. Pacific Fleet leads America's rebalance to the Pacific.
