The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) is a consolidated health care system that includes VA Medical Centers in Montgomery and Tuskegee Alabama as well as Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Dothan Alabama, Ft. Rucker Alabama, Monroeville, Alabama and Columbus Georgia. The primary duty station for this position is at Tuskegee, Alabama. The incumbent will be required to work on site at the other locations as required.

This Supervisory Psychologist functions as the Chief,
Psychology Service for the Central Alabama VA Health Care System. The Chief,
Psychology Service functions as the lead psychologist responsible for the
professional practice of psychology at CAVHCS. These responsibilities include
ensuring that clinical staff provides evidence-based psychological
services of the highest quality. The Chief, Psychology Service oversees
professional practice functions for a service of staff psychologists and 4
psychology interns. These psychologists (and trainees) are dispersed across
multidisciplinary teams within the Mental Health Service, General Medicine
Service, Rehabilitation Care Service, and Geriatrics and Extended Care Service.
Additional responsibilities include organizing and leading Psychology Service
staff meetings; Facilitating the organization and functioning of the Psychology
Internship Training Program Director, to include providing leadership to the
Psychology Training Director, and ensuring ongoing compliance with APA
accreditation standards; Responsibility for completing Ongoing
Professional Practice Evaluations and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations
for psychologists, including participating in the design of process and
procedures, organizing clinical pertinence reviews, and compiling summary data
for provider feedback; initiating timely completion of board actions and
documentation for pay grade promotions of psychologists at CAVHCS; Serving on
the Credentialing and Privileging Committee; Providing Vetpro Service Chief
approvals for credentialing and privileging of psychologists; and responding to
ethical concerns, competency limitations, and/or performance deficiencies
identified by providing monitoring and intervention in coordination with supervisors
Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. May
include night, weekend, and travel between campus'.
