    Summary

    The Nurse Manager is a professional nurse who holds 24 hour accountability for the management of a Mental Health Service line Veteran care unit within the Carl Vinson VAMC.

    Responsibilities

    Holds twenty-four hour accountability for management of a defined area of organizing nursing services or patient care within the Carl Vinson VAMC
    First level-nursing manager who functions under the direction and guidance of the Associate Director, Patient Care Services by providing clinical and administrative leadership
    Responsible for the management of Nursing Practice and Nursing Operations within their defined areas of responsibility
    Facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to high quality, cost effective and customer focused health care
    Directly supervises all nursing personnel in their defined area of responsibility
    Responsible and accountable for the overall functioning of the unit, including staffing, scheduling, resource utilization, patient flow, performance improvement activities, staff and program evaluations
    Possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting, which will enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices
    Management of acute and chronic illness and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the dying patient and significant others
    Demonstrates and ensures safe working practices that include adherence to Infection Control Standards and safe use and operation of equipment
    Performs other duties as assigned to the position

    Work Schedule: Administrative Tour, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 p.m.
