Vacancy Identification Number (VIN): 1999098

OUR MISSION: To fulfill President Lincoln's promise – "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" – by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans. How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans?

Join the VA professionals in Oklahoma City -- a dynamic place to live that exhibits pioneer spirit, combined with old-fashioned hospitality.  Come experience big-city amenities with small-city charm.  Visitors and residents are delighted with the abundant historical, cultural, recreational, shopping, restaurant and entertainment venues offered in this enticing city.  Sports fans revel in the exploits of the Thunder NBA basketball team, an American Hockey League Team, the nearby Tulsa Shock WNBA Team, and many national sporting events.  In addition to the excellent grade schools in the area, there are numerous technical schools, junior colleges, colleges and universities from which to choose.  Because of the low unemployment rate and modest cost of living, Oklahoma City area residents enjoy a very agreeable quality of life.

VA encourages persons with disabilities to apply. The health related positions in VA are covered by Title 38, and are not covered by the Schedule A excepted appointment authority.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

The Quality Improvement (QI) Specialist will be responsible for directing and coordinating the administrative, operational, and planning activities for the Nursing Service quality improvement program.  This includes authoring and developing policies, and monitoring program compliance with VHA policy/directive, Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory agency requirements.

The QI Specialist will independently identify areas for improvements and lead interdisciplinary teams to develop and maintain safe, high quality health care delivery.  He/she must have the ability to analyze complex and critical data to identify trends and issues of concern.

The QI Specialist will facilitate improvement projects and interdisciplinary teams and track outcome measures to ensure sustainment of improvement efforts.

The QI Specialist will work with staff to identify solutions for identified system and process issues.  The QI Specialist will systematically evaluate current practices, such as high risk indicators, patient safety report patterns, and stakeholders feedback to formulate recommendations for improvements.

The QI Specialist will provide direct service and consultation to organizational leaders and staff at levels of the organization for assessing and improving various aspects of patient care and administrative services.

The QI Specialist role requires current knowledge and basic principles and practices related to the management of health care delivery systems.  A key aspect of the role will be tracking, analyzing, and trending activities and data in patient care and organizational functions.  Demonstration of strong skills in managing and actively promoting organizational change is imperative.
