    Summary

    In CFACT, the Division of Social and Economic Research conducts studies of the access to and costs of financing health care; assists in the development of agency data resources; and provides technical assistance to researchers and policymakers within the agency and throughout federal government.

    Responsibilities

    The Staff Fellow will serve in the Division of Social and Economic Research, responsible for ensuring the analytic utility of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), a major component of CFACT's mission, and

    • Provide ongoing expert analytic contributions to MEPS data collection activities, particularly in the areas of health care use and expenditures, prescription drug use and expenditures, and the linkages between health behaviors, chronic conditions, health insurance, and health care outcomes.
    • Serve as a technical expert in the formulation and execution of research in the areas of health care use and expenditures, prescription drug use and expenditures, and the linkages between health behaviors, chronic conditions, health insurance, and health care outcomes.
    • Provide expert analytical input into the design and development of primary data collection efforts and research-related databases, especially in the areas of health care use and expenditures, prescription drug use and expenditures, and the linkages between health behaviors, chronic conditions, health insurance, and health care outcomes.
    • Facilitate the dissemination of his/her research through extensive contact with the user community, other researchers, and persons requesting data or technical assistance.
    • Facilitate dissemination of research findings through preparation of reports in scientific journals, complete books, or as chapters in book, and through oral presentations at seminars, workshops, and scientific meetings.
