The individual will serve as the Supervisory Assistant Public Assistance (PA) Training Section Chief at FEMA Headquarters, where they will assist in the development and implementation of the national Public Assistance training strategy. The individual will assist the Section Chief in the management of team leads, coordinate with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to ensure PA Training Section teams are able to meet all mission requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in the following: implementing the Public Assistance program, delivering training on the Public Assistance Program, and developing adult education curriculum. This position starts at a salary of $96,970 (IC-13).

EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
This position is being announced under FEMA's Cadre of On-call Response/Recovery Employee (CORE) Program. This is a temporary appointment in the Excepted Service, not to exceed 2 years, with the option to extend based on workload and funding availability. Veterans Preference does not apply to the CORE selection process.
In this position, you will administer FEMA disaster recovery programs and develop related policies, guidance and training to support the recovery of communities affected by disaster.
Typical assignments include:
- Providing administrative and technical supervision to the staff of the Public Assistance (PA) training section;
- Coordinating and supporting the implementation of disaster recovery services and programs;
- Managing components of emergency management programs and activities during response and recovery operations;
- Leading the coordination and development of disaster recovery training, exercises and assistance; and
50% or less - Occasional non-emergency travel may be required.
