    About the Position:
    Serves as a Supervisory Architect or Engineer responsible for performing and directing the full range of field and office engineering activities associated with construction operations. Work operations are varied and complex and assures that workload and project responsibilities are specifically delegated to subordinates.

    Incumbents of deployable positions must be mobile and are subject to assignment anywhere in the world in support of military contingency operations or other national and/or overseas crises. When not deployed, duties performed are in support of the division/district with which assigned. Required to participate in preparedness training exercises.

    This is a temporary promotion or reassignment opportunity not to exceed (NTE) 5 years which may be converted to permanent without further competition. Two positions will be filled and may be assigned and located at any District, Area or Resident Office within the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division (LRD).

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as a Supervisory Architect or Engineer responsible for performing and directing the full range of field and office engineering activities associated with construction operations.
    • Supervises the contract administration function for Civil Works construction projects.
    • Ensures the timely and satisfactory accomplishment of multiple contracts including numerous modifications or original contracts involving immediate decision and instructions to contractors.
    • Plans and assigns work to subordinates, determining work schedules, priorities, and advises on administrative matters.
    • Reviews Quality Control (QC) Plans, Accident prevention plans and Environmental Protection Plans; and reviews shop drawings submittals for Civil, Architectural and Structural features of projects for compliance with contract documents.
    • Oversees the preparation of construction progress reports and takes action with contractors as required to maintain contract schedule.
    • Inspect contractors' operations for conformance with plans and specifications plus oversees pre-final and final inspections.
    • Maintains liaison with and regularly participates in discussions with Using Agency and contractor representatives on matters of safety, project regulations, coordination of utility outages, progress of the work, and needs of the user with respect to work under construction.

    Travel Required

    75% or less - Temporary Duty (TDY) travel approximately 50 percent or more for both short and/or long in duration to both CONUS (US) and OCONUS (Overseas) locations with travel on military transportation. These trips may last up to 6 months or longer in duration and may be in remote and dangerous locations with living conditions extremely austere.
