Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is for an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, Position Description Number D1444000 located in 116th Maintenance Squadron, Robins AFB, GA.

This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership.

Duties

As an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, WS-8801-14, you will:

Plan the overall allocation of personnel, funding and equipment resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, complexity, operational tempo, and total force integration must be planned on an annual or longer basis.

Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and reviews personnel actions prepared by them.

Make formal appraisal of supervisors' work performance and reviews employee appraisals submitted by them.

Determine long range and supervisory training needs for all levels of subordinates developing resource options, justifications and methods to accomplish training.

Implement safety regulatory requirements.

Ensure that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state drivers license.
  • Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment.

General Experience: Must possess experience which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

Specialized Experience: Candidate must have 36 months specialized experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and may be required to lift items weighing up to 100pounds with assistance from other workers or materials handling equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperature extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces (landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps), engine noise, heat blast, intake suction, rotating propellers, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices, liquid oxygen/nitrogen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.
