Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common food preparation and cooking tasks. I can: 1) Prepare and/or cook items that require little or no processing such as pancakes, sausages, eggs, hamburgers, fresh or canned vegetables, hot cereals, concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces and gravies; 2) Operate kitchen equipment which utilizes gas, electricity, steam, or microwave heat sources; and 3) Clean equipment and/or work areas after use. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Physical Effort: Work involves continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of other workers or lifting devices. The employee is required to wear protective shoes, appropriate hearing protection, gloves, and other safety and food handling items required by food handling guides.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed in kitchen areas, which are well lighted but are often hot and noisy. Employee is exposed to steam, fumes, odors from cooking, and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units. Must stand on tile and cement floors, subject to burns, cuts, and slipping on wet floors. The employee is required to wear protective shoes, appropriate hearing protection, and gloves or other safety and food handling items required by food handling guides.
