Summary

You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the Avionics Branch of the Source Development Department, Engineering and Product Support Directorate, of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Duties

  • You will perform technical research that involves collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and developing specialized information on aviation electronic equipment to include airframes and propulsion components.
  • You will provide assistance to senior specialists to develop and evaluate policies, procedures, plans, and test provisions for quality assurance requirements throughout the various phrases of the systems acquisition cycle.
  • You will obtain, provide, and base recommendations on aviation equipment information such as manufacturing processes, materials, maintenance requirements, associated equipment, and conditions needed to operate and repair it.
  • You will collect technical data, assess, and consolidate into a single data package.

Qualifications

For the GS-09 Grade Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying knowledge of the full range of equipment standards, policies, regulations, and methods sufficient to plan and conduct reviews of maintenance problems involving assigned equipment, determine equipment performance issues, and recommend solutions for economic feasibility and technical effectiveness. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Performing technical research that involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting specialized information on aviation equipment to include airframes and propulsion components; 2) Applying quality assurance processes in order to establish essential quality standards and controls and ensure quality assurance plans are integrated into the systems engineering process; 3) Utilizing automated software tools and databases to analyze data; and 4) Reading, interpreting, and determining the technical validity of work orders, engineering change orders/data, and supply technical manuals for components and equipment of airframe/propulsion systems to make technical recommendations regarding such equipment.

For the GS-07 Grade Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying knowledge of equipment standards, policies, regulations, and methods sufficient to plan and conduct reviews of maintenance problems involving assigned equipment. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Performing technical research that involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting specialized information on aviation equipment to include airframes and propulsion components; 2) Using automated software tools and databases to analyze data; and 3) Reading and interpreting work orders, engineering change orders/data, and supply technical manuals for components and equipment of airframe/propulsion systems.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-09 level only:
Successful completion of master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

For the GS-07 grade level only:
Successful completion of 1 full year of graduate level education
or
Successful completion of superior academic achievement
