Duties

  • Serves as a Fitness Facility Manager directing and supervising diverse functions required to operate a fitness facility and programs up to 64,798 SQ FT.
  • Works under the direction of the Business and Recreation Division Chief.
  • Supervises and oversees the management and operation of a Fitness Facility, Sports Program and a small Pool. Conducts Sport and Fitness programs for the customer.
  • Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Works with fitness facility staff to recommend purchase/construction of equipment and facilities.
  • Oversees facility programs and services.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED, and Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
  • Must complete the following course(s)/class: MWR Orientation Course, Customer Service, and Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • A physical may be required.

Qualifications

**Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria.**

Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. Experience that includes the demonstrated ability to manage and operate complex multiple fitness facilities. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.

Highly Preferred:

Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and the ability, knowledge and skills to perform the duties identified above. MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course and Lifeguard Management. Have at least one year fitness experience, sports management experience in a military or similar setting.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives may be paid.
  • Recruitment or Relocation incentive of up to 25% of the annual salary may be authorized with a signed two year service commitment.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
