We are searching for a highly experienced and forward-thinking Director to lead our Component Vulnerabilities Directorate in tackling these challenges head-on for the United States Air Force and the Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC), Dahlgren, VA.

Duties

  • Provides direction, guidance, and supervision for all activities within the directorate that directly and indirectly support the accomplishment of the JWAC mission.
  • Supervising and overseeing professional engineering and scientific work for the primary purpose of delivering high quality products to the center's customers that are highly valued, unique, timely, and have the center's latest technologies integrated into final products.
  • Routinely communicates ideas with the command's Chief Scientists and other technical leaders regarding the Directorate's vision, technology initiatives, plans, and policies to ensure effective capability advancement, best business practices, and accountability across all directorate functions and line management responsibilities
  • Meets with key customer and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems that arise.
  • Prepares and presents reports and briefings on status of directorate initiatives and/or recommends action(s) to the Technical Director, Vice Director, and/or Director.
  • Represents JWAC at meetings, conferences and trainings to keep abreast of issues affecting the organization; serves on requisite groups or committees.

  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing program. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use

Qualifications

For DR-IV: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DR-III/GS-14 grade level. Specialized Experience is defined as work in the private or public sector performing duties in or related to the work of the position being filled. Examples of specialized experience include senior leadership experience, experience developing/executing advancement requirements, experience training/mentoring others, and demonstrated technical abilities and knowledge across a variety of engineering and scientific disciplines. Ability to formulate objectives and priorities, assess risk, and execute plans is required.

Other Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in applying and integrating highly technical concepts into analytical methodologies, modeling and simulations, data exploitation, and/or special weapons technologies in support of warfighter requirements.
  • Experience in coordinating with military and civilian staffs in support of shaping and delivering high value technical solutions to military Combatant Commands and/or other DoD agencies.
  • Experience in leading scientific and engineering professionals in multi-domain security environments
  • Experience in professional development of colleagues/employees.
  • Experience with working with contracts, financial/budget planning and execution.
  • Experience in communicating, both orally and in writing, technical methods and approaches and technical and/or resource requirements to leadership, peers and subordinates.
  • Experience in conducting workforce planning and resource allocation to maximize utilization of constrained resources.
