Proficiency Required: A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Specialized Experience for applicants who are NOT current or former Federal employees: which includes: (1) Operating automation, emergency dispatching, and communications equipment; (2) interviewing callers to determine problems and nature of calls to respond with appropriate emergency personnel/equipment; (3) Communicating effectively with police, fire, or medical personnel during emergencies; 4) Using the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) to verify law enforcement sensitive information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
