Summary

THIS IS AN AIR FORCE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER (MI 191st MOF), Position Description Number NGD2506000 and is part of the MI 127 Wing, Michigan Air National Guard.

Duties

***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POISITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP***

This position is located within an Air National Guard, Aircraft Maintenance Organization. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) T32 National Guard position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to perform preliminary analysis of long term forecasting of readiness and budgets.

1. Plans, organizes, and oversees all unit level deployment activities. Configures and maintains functional Unit Type Codes (UTCs) as postured by MAJCOM FAMs (Functional Area Managers) using available unit assets.

2. Performs analysis activities. Establishes metric and system analysis systems for unit and higher level management to assess the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory procedures.

3. Provides technical guidance and recommendations to senior leadership regarding unit deployment program. Advises commander on the direction, management, and operation of all aspects of unit deployment capabilities.

4. Ensures personnel and equipment readiness. Ensures the unit is ready to meet wartime and peacetime mobility taskings by scheduling and tracking unit deployment training.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Air National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E4 - E5

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Specialized Experience time requirements of 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. The Unit Deployment Manager oversees unit deployment activities, ensure personnel readiness, and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit deployment program. The incumbent provides technical expertise regarding unit deployment activities and provides advice and guidance to personnel and senior leadership. The work involves : (1) identifying the specified requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program and (2) correlating those requirements with program plans to assure that the needed support is provided at the right time and place. The work requires analytical ability, judgment, discretion, and knowledge of a substantial body of administrative or program principles, concepts, policies, and objectives.

Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures.

Education

Education to Substitute for Specialized Experience requirement to qualify for this position:

GS-09: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

AND

1 year equivalent to at least GS-7

Undergraduate Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements for many positions covered by this standard. Others have individual occupational requirements that specify that applicants must, in general, (1) have specific course work that meets the requirements for a major in a particular field(s), or (2) have at least 24 semester hours of course work in the field(s) identified. Course work in fields closely related to those specified may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.

Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown in the table meets the requirements for positions at GS-7 through GS-11. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.

Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
