Summary
As an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for the Southern District of Indiana, you will have the privilege to do the important work of the people you serve and the Constitution you will be sworn to protect and defend. This posting seeks applicants to lead the U.S. Attorney's Office's (USAO) e-discovery practice in both our Civil and Criminal Divisions.
Duties
The USAO serves as the federal government's principal litigator in the Southern District of Indiana. As an AUSA, you will be part of the backbone of the Department of Justice, indispensable in carrying out our mission to uphold the law, keep our country safe, protect civil rights, and represent the United States in court.
AUSAs in the USAO's Criminal Division prosecute federal crimes in the district, while those in the Civil Division defend the federal government in litigation and pursue civil claims on behalf of the government when appropriate.
E-discovery is fundamental to both the Criminal and Civil Divisions, and effectively managing e-discovery matters is critical to the USAO's success in serving the public. Recognizing this, the Department of Justice has allotted resources to focus specifically on e-discovery matters, including by creating this AUSA position to lead the USAO's efforts in this area.
As E-Discovery AUSA, you will manage discovery for the Criminal and Civil Divisions. Because this is a new position, you will be involved in developing processes and procedures to ensure effective intake, review, and production of discovery material, and will provide guidance and support to litigators on discovery matters. In so doing, you will supervise litigation support specialists and work closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement and federal client agencies.
Our office has an outstanding team of attorneys and support professionals dedicated to working together in pursuit of our vital mission. We tailor our training, mentorship, and development programs to fit the needs of each attorney as they join our office. At least one year of legal experience is required, unless you are applying through the Department of Justice's Honors Program. Significant experience with electronically stored information, complex discovery practice, and discovery management software is strongly preferred.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1* year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.

Evaluation Method:
Once your complete application package is received, it will be reviewed to ensure you meet all job requirements. A panel of Assistant United States Attorneys will then review all qualified applicants and make recommendations for invitation to interview. You will be notified if selected for an interview.
Veterans' Preference:
