Summary

The CYP Assistant works directly with children and youth, keeping them actively engaged, well-cared for, and safe while participating in the CYP. The CYP Assistant's day includes helping children develop social skills such as making friends and conflict resolution; make healthy choices whether it be choosing nutritional snacks or appropriate recreational activities; build self-help and school readiness skills; and explore the environment around them.

  • Minimum Requirement (Yes/No):Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated for:
  • PD# CY-13-01: Must meet minimum requirements.
  • PD# CY-13-02 - Intermediate (GSE-03): (Yes/No): Must have one of the following:Successful completion of Navy Entry Level Training requirements (Army, Air Force, Marine equivalent accepted) AND6 months of experience working with children or youth in a child or youth setting
  • PD# CY-13-03 - Full Performance (GSE-04): (Yes/No): Must have one of the following:Successful completion of DOD standardized training courses AND possess 1 year of experience working with children and youth ORA Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Military School-Age (MSA) credential AND 1 year of experience ORA 2-year degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development or related field of study, which can include Youth Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Youth Development, Psychology, Social Work, Home Economics with an emphasis in Human Development, or other degrees as appropriate AND 1 year of experience.
  • Note: Experience outside of Federal childcare is acceptable (e.g., paid, volunteer, student teaching, practicum). Completion of the Department of Defense (DoD) Standardized Training Modules from another Branch (i.e., Air Force, Army, Marines) is acceptable.
