Duties
- Perform a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables.
- Prepare hot cereals and concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces and gravies. Make colds sandwich fillings. Set up and replenishes salad bar.
- Prepare food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for regular and modified menu items.
- Mix ingredients according to precisely written recipes. Cover, date, and store leftovers according to established procedures.
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Disassemble, clean and assemble component parts and accessories, following safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment.
Conditions of Employment

- Must attend Team Member Orientation within the first 30 days of employment.
- This is a flexible position. Flexible positions have no guaranteed hours. A flexible employee serves in a continuing position on a scheduled or as needed basis.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry moderate objects up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift over 40 pounds with assistance.
- Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess.
Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable:
a. Neatness and good grooming.
b. Dependability.
c. Ability to work under pressure.
