These positions are for a new daily breakfast and lunch operation that opened. It will be open Monday-Friday for breakfast and lunch service(s). In addition, these positions may be resourced to support the MWR catering operations for installation events and private gatherings.

Duties
- Prepares and cooks a variety of menu items. Working alone or with the assistance of a higher-grade cook or supervisor, prepares a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements.
- Brings prepared foods from preparation area to refrigerators or serving area.
- Picks up items needed for menu preparation, rotating food inventories as appropriate. Takes inventory to determine ordering requirements.
- Check food for appropriate preparation, temperature, and packaging.
Conditions of Employment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3.
- An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
- Incumbent will be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
- Must be physically able to frequently lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must be physically able to occasionally lift and move items weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
- Must be physically able to stand and walk, with frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Food Handler's Certification.
- Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
- Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
- a minimum of six (6) months of work experience preparing a variety of menu items including regular and special diet entrees and dessert items fairly independently (without more than normal supervision), AND
- work experience using kitchen appliances and equipment, AND
- work experience carving, preparing garnishes, and assembling attractive platters, salads, and other food presentations, AND
- knowledge of food borne illnesses, food safety, and proper storage methods for hot and cold food items in order to prevent spoilage, AND
- the ability to read and understand written food material, labels, recipes, and instructions, AND
- the ability to speak and write in the English language.
