About the Agency

This position is located in the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), Construction, Facility and Security Management Directorate (CFSM), Office of Facility Management (FAC), Maintenance Support Division (MS). FAC provides global support in operating and maintaining Department of State (DOS) facilities and related equipment at overseas posts, through the provision of professional specialty services to ensure that post personnel are in safe, secure and functional facilities. The incumbent of this position serves as a Facility Management Desk Officer, responsible for providing technical and financial management for five multi-million dollar maintenance and repair (M&R) budgets for a portfolio overseas.

This position is eligible for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).


- Provide expert technical advice and guidance in a variety of maintenance management issues relative to the proper maintenance and repair of government owned (GO), restricted government owned (RGO), and capital leased properties; collaborates with subject matter experts within both OBO and third party contractors to understand costs and level of effort for preventive maintenance service contracts for major equipment and systems at non-residential properties;

- Maintain liaison with overseas DOS embassy/consulate managers to assess and report on implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) service contracts, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) uses, and overall United States Government (USG) property condition and to coordinate proper maintenance implementation and local storage of maintenance materials and equipment in support of maintenance management program (MMP) activities at both domestic and overseas posts;

- Provide expertise to the technical review of locally employed contractor work that is performed at post; monitors installations and performs technical training for post Facility Managers (FMs) on the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
