The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has adopted the HR Modernization and Shared Services Implementation, which is a new model of organizing and consolidating essential Human Resource (HR) functions and services to the Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) level.

DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.201) for this occupation.
Duties
- Serves on tray processing area by accurately placing specific foods, utensils and beverages on patient trays in accordance with menu selection, regular or modifies diets;
- Serve food cafeteria style by placing uniform portions of food on customers'/patients'/residents' plates
- Identifies obvious discrepancies between the prescribed diets and the food items designated by the tray ticket during tray assembly area operation;
- Decides what food items to serve for the most common diets when a tray ticket identifies only the kind of diet called for such as a liquid or diabetic diet
- Sets-up stations in the tray assembly area with correct supplies and food items;
- Record nourishment inventories, replace expired bulk items, label and distribute individual nourishment to appropriate patients or nursing stations.
Work Schedule: Full-time - 5:30am-2:00pm or 11:00am-7:30pm, rotating weekends off, and holidays.

Physical Requirements: ???????Wage Grade 3 Food Service Workers perform work requiring light to moderate physical effort. They may be required to perform heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing large size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. They are subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. They frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others.
