About the Agency
This position is located in the Office of the Chief Privacy Officer (OCPO), FOIA Service Center, Office of Management (OM). OCPO is responsible for providing policies, standards, and procedures that ensure the Department compiles with governmental information management requirements for the statutes that OCPO administers, including in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Paperwork Reduction Act, the Privacy Act, and other information management and privacy statutes.
As a Government Information Specialist with the Office of Management; Chief Privacy Office; Privacy, Information and Records Management Services, some of your Major Job Requirement (MJR)/Duties include:
Review and analyze incoming requests;
Assist in the preparation of responses to inquiries from the public, parents, students, school officials, and State education officials about the laws PIRMS administers by gathering information, and by analyzing data to prepare responses;
Prepare written and oral responses for routine public inquiries;
Assist higher level specialist in the administration of their responsibilities of interpreting and applying laws, regulations, policies, and guidance for the resolutions of issues;
Prepare less complicated portions of larger assignments in order to facilitate the work of high level specialists or supervisors.
Assist in investigation of complaints and inquiries regarding federal information statutes by reviewing documents pertaining to agency or institution policy and practices, and analyzing findings.
