We have many facilities located throughout the nation: 122 institutions, 6 regional offices, a headquarters, 2 staff training academies, and 26 residential reentry management offices.
In accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3307, a maximum entry age of 36 has been established for initial appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution.
The representative rate for this position is $95,977 per annum ($45.99 per hour).
Incumbent serves as the manager of the Human Resources Office for the Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Primary responsibilities include local labor management negotiations, disciplinary and grievance procedures, staffing and placement (recruitment, requesting certificates of eligibles, interviewing, and pre-employment processing), workforce projections, career counseling, performance evaluation and incentive awards programs, employee relations, disciplinary and adverse actions, payroll and personnel actions, time and attendance, leave administration, compensation, and employee development functions. Specific training responsibilities will include local training, tracking mandatory training compliance and evaluations, the mentoring program, and the training needs assessment/annual training plan.
Incumbent is responsible for local labor management negotiations and must develop and maintain a relationship with the Union President and union representatives in the development of personnel policies, practices, and procedures. The incumbent is also responsible for the operation of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program. As the expert in human resources, the incumbent will be called upon to develop or assist in the development of local policy and procedures.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.
Occasional travel - Travel may be required for training and/or work related issues.
