Summary

This position is located at Vehicle Registration, Sembach, Germany.

Duties

  • Installs, customizes, and maintains mainframe operating systems and other vendor software products in support of Registry functions in a z/VM Z/VSE-VSEn and network environment.
  • Provides analysis and implements appropriate measures for software/hardware requirements and problem resolution. Implements systems security plans, policies and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Provides additional system programing services, to include (but not limited to): coding, testing, debugging, documentation, backup/restore strategies and implementations, and Disaster Recovery implementations, testing, and procedures development.
  • Provides assistance and guidance to the operations and programming staffs. Provides information and instructions related to the maintenance and service process. Runs systems backups.
  • Provides ongoing optimization and problem-solving support to minimize system interruptions in a mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

One year specialized system software installation programming experience sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and skill in:- Installation and maintenance of VM and VSE operating system software, computer center processes, operation and generally accepted business practices in a multi-platform system architecture environment, IBM system zSeries compatible equipment and software systems, installing and configuring system software with multiple virtual machines for production and application testing, software testing and problem solving techniques-

Knowledge of IT Security systems.

Verbal and written communication skills.

In addition, incumbent must possess expert knowledge of installation and maintenance of all or the majority of the following areas: VM, VSE, CICS, TCP/IP, VTAM, Power, JCL, COBOL, REXX and Assembler language.

Highly Qualigying Criteria:

Applicants meeting the highly qualifying criteria will be forwarded to management for consideration first. Claims must be verifiable in one's resume and supporting documentation (licenses, certifications, etc) must be uploaded at time of application.

3-5 years' recent experience with z/VM and z/VSE (or VSEn) in a "z" environment, including components such as: CICS/TS (or OLTP) TCP/IP, VSAM, and JCL.
Proficiency in programming languages such as COBOL, Rexx, and Assembler.
Disaster Recovery (D/R) experience.
Able to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and/or projects.
Good oral and written skills in the English language.

Other Highly Desirable Criteria:

COBOL batch and CICS applications programming experience.
Experience with Virtel products.
HTML experience.
Linux experience.
Java scripting experience.

Education

There is no educational requirement or substitution for this position. Transcripts and certifications may be used to substantiate experience claims.
