The position(s) covered by this job announcement is/are scheduled to transition from the National Security Personnel System (NSPS) to the General Schedule (GS) or applicable personnel system by January 1, 2012.



Regional support to the MCNOSC is provided via MCNOSC Detachments (Det) located in eight regional MCEN IT Support Centers (MITSCs). Each MCNOSC Det will provide Network Defense to support the local execution of enterprise network defense actions that include support to enterprise-level vulnerability management, incident management and support to regional network defense infrastructure systems. This position serves as the MCNOSC Detachment computer Network Defense (CND) and is immediately accountable to the Detachment Lead who reports to the MCNOSC MITSC Lead in Quantico, VA. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight of the execution of those network defense activities conducted at the local and regional level for all installations and commands being served in your location. The incumbent will also be required to have the Ability to lead and facilitate continuing collaboration with and between the Marine Corps Information Assurance (IA) community managers, vendors, contractors and the MCNOSC. The incumbent oversees the development and integration of functional supporting plans into regional support to a coordinated enterprise-level network defense, detection and vulnerability management effort. The incumbent ensure local scanning systems and network sensor feeds are maintained in an operational status and that incident monitoring, analysis, detection and reporting is accomplished in accordance with applicable Marine Corps and DOD policy. The incumbent provide periodic reporting to Operations Center regarding general Marine Corps readiness for implementation of INFOCON levels, and potential operational impacts.
