Duties
I. INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this position is to perform general maintenance work for the upkeep and repair for Lodging facilities. Performs a varity of carpentry, plumbing, painting and minor electrical duties within lodging as follows:
II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Measures, cuts, contracts, installs, repairs and modifies wood, composite and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product. Applies standard measurements, specification and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing items such as frame structures, decking, partitions, shelving, forms, siding and scaffolds. Performs limited repairs furniture such as re-gluing loose joints and replacing shelving and slide mechanisms. Operates a variety of hand and power tools such as hammers, hand saw, drills, planes, routers, screwdrivers, power nailers and fasteners, glue guns, metal shears, screw guns, power saws, and power sanders and planes. Works from sketches, work orders, and instructions.
b. Performs minor maintenance and/or repairs to plumbing fixtures such as complete faucets, drain traps, unplugs stopped drains in tubs, sinks and showers. Measure, cuts, bends, and threads pipe and tile, caulks and seals elbows, union joints, tile pipe, faucets and unions. Uses tapes, rules, hacksaw, hand and powered pipe threaders and cutters, packing and caulking irons and pipe wrenches.
c. Paints wood and metal surfaces by brushing, rolling or spraying using prepared materials and by the application of coating techniques which ensures surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from runs and drips. Prepares surfaces by sanding, wire brushing, scraping, spackling, and puttying. Uses scraper, sanders, wire b rushes, putty knives, paintbrushes, rullers and spray guns.
d. Performs minor electrical maintenance for coffee makers, toasters, iron, ice machines and vacuum cleaners. Replaces light fixtures, receptacles, switches and light bulbs.
e. May repair door locks. Repairs are limited to removing/replacing door locks, key-card locks, and doorknobs.
2. Performs minor maintenance such as adjusting and replacing belts on vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers. Performs maintenance on power tools and sharpens cutting tools. Drives vehicles used in the transportation of materials to and from work sites. Assists in policing of grounds, using leaf blowers, and removing snow from walkways as necessary. May required to move and/or lift furniture.
3. Operates carpet/upholstery cleaning equipment on a scheduled basis. Cleans carpet and upholstery by applying cleaning agents for various types of fabrics/furnishings. Performs other duties as assigned.
III. CONTOLS OVER WORK: Work is assigned either written or orally from supervisor or higher-graded worker. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion for adequacy and compliance wit instructions. Supervisor is normally available for advice and guidance.

Qualifying Experience:
Applicants must have increasingly responsible experience/knowledge of carpentry, painting, plumbing and a general knowledge of electrical general maintenance. Must have a working knowledge of various hand and power tools. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid states drivers license. Experience may have been acquired by actual job experience, trade school or any other affiliation which provide the knowledge and abilities to perform these skills.
Must be able to complete and maintain a satisfactory National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)This is a drug testing position.
The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. May be required to drive a government vehicle

Education
