THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1950000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard.

This is an open continuous announcement. Initial cutoff will be 31 July 2023. Recruitment will continue through the announcement closing date until the position is filled. Indefinite position/ Temporary promotion/ May become permanent.
Duties
MATERIALS HANDLER (TITLE 32), WG-6907-5/6, you will perform warehouse inspection, storage, and inventory of a wide variety of supply and equipment items, classified and sensitive items, War Consumables Distribution Objective (WCDO) items; selecting items to be issued, shipped, or transferred; conducting warehouse validations and inventories; maintaining central locator functions; performing warehouse inspection functions (i.e., shelf life, functional checks); and managing the staging area for delivery of items.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
- Take necessary action to control deterioration and/or corrosion of items in storage.
- Use a variety of measuring devices, conversion charts to determine moisture factors on lumber and classification factors/special markings on gasses, chemicals and metals.
- Monitor material suspect program to eliminate possible hazards or substandard material.
- Coordinate with base Medical Group's Bioenvironmental Health Technician on all hazardous items to ensure all items are identified on the item record.
- Assure required tags, labels, and markings are affixed to property to reflect identity, status, and condition.
- Inspect all classes of property for which the USPFO Accountable Officer has responsibility and/or accountability, including small arms, aircraft parts and components; motor vehicle parts; building and construction materials; special equipment; gasses, chemical, and wood products; packaged petroleum products: machines and communication equipment.
- Identify and control required Technical Order Compliance (TCTO), inventory, code and tags material in accordance with TCTO furnished by Maintenance Quality Assurance (QA).
- Monitor demilitarization, required documentation, and transfer of items to disposal.
- Initiate inputs to add or delete warehouse locations on item records.
- Select items to be issued and/or shipped and transfers them to the Cargo Movement Element for subsequent delivery/shipment.
- Determine that materials are properly identified as to condition, identity, security, classification.
- Train all supply personnel requiring an inspector's stamp or those performing inspector duties, by signature.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.

The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.

The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.

The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.

The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.
Military Grades: Enlisted - May not exceed the rank of TSgt.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess the experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-06 Level: MUST possess the specialized experience or training which includes at least 9 months of experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment; Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques; Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. WG-05 Level: MUST possess specialized experience or training which includes 6 months of experience or training demonstrating the ability to store, organize and/or rotate a variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities; Familiar with basic warehouse procedures; Experience in determining quantities of inventory items; Experience in following oral and written instructions.
In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service.
