Proficient in the ability to scrub, circulate, and monitor advanced procedures (including electrophysiological) to include intravascular ultrasound, RADI or wave-wire, Rotablator, filter wires, permanent pacemaker insertions and AICD insertions. Experienced in operating and using the equipment and supplies in the Cardiac Cath Lab, with the ability to set-up, calibrate, and troubleshoot this equipment. Applies his/her knowledge and understanding of the cardiac waveforms from the great vessels and all chambers of the heart including the ability to recognize and distinguish normal from abnormal, artifact from abnormality, and forewarn the physician of an impending life-threatening situation. Performs weekly inventory of supplies to ensure adequate levels are maintained based on clinical workload while, at the same time, ensuring no supplies expire. Assists with transporting Cardiology patients from the inpatient floors to and from Cath Lab. Provides mentoring and training of new technical staff, develop continuing education curricula for existing technical staff.Includes demonstration of new techniques to be utilized by technical staff in support of physician staff attending's and fellows. Performs introduction and training of clinical staff, including nursing and physician personnel, on medical equipment and supplies (new and existing). Creates and updates new and existing policies and procedures pertaining to new equipment and Cardiology departmental operations.
Recognizes vulnerable areas in the department's policies or procedures and acquires a solution independently and without the direction of management.
Proficient in the operation and troubleshooting the complex procedural and testing equipment that includes IVUS, RADI-wire, Rotablator, filter wires, permanent pacemaker insertions and AICD insertions etc.Performs duties in the EP lab, as needed, to provide staffing for procedures.
Coordinates and performs in-services for new equipment and supplies in conjunction with outside vendors. Performs the daily, weekly and monthly quality control and performance improvement indicators for the Cardiac Cath Lab and possesses the ability to prepare and analyze quality control of test results.
Accurately prepares the different systems utilized during the cardiology procedure rooms, including power injector, IVUS, BARD, CARTO3, Bair Hugger, Innova systems and MAC-Lab systems.Stays current with regulatory requirements.
