    The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center consists of a parent site, located in Altoona, PA and 5 community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) located in DuBois, Huntingdon, Indiana, Johnstown & State College, PA. The medical center serves Veterans from a 14 county area in Central PA, providing exceptional health care in the areas of Acute Care, Behavioral Health, Diagnostic Services, Urgent Care, Long Term Care, Pharmacy, Primary Care, Social Services, Specialty Care & Women's Health.

    Must be willing to travel within the work day- Main clinic coverage for DuBois and Indiana CBOC's, however cover for Altoona, State College, Huntingdon and Johnstown.

    Duties include, but are not limited to:
    -Internal examination (funduscope, etc. of the eye)
    -Diagnosis and management of vision disorders, utilizing refractive, pharmaceutical and rehabilitative (low vision, contact lens, and binocular vision) treatment modalities.
    -Utilization and prescription of pharmaceutical agents for examination of the eye and adnexa as well as treatment and management of vision disorders, diseases and conditions of the eye and adnexa.
    -Utilization and prescription of ophthalmic prosthetic devices ( including spectacles, contact lens) and training in their use.
    -Ordering of routine diagnostic laboratory studies including preparation of specimens for cultures, sensitivity testing and smearing analysis.
    -Health education and sight conservation programs to inform patients of potential ocular complications of disease processes and to prevent loss of sight or reduced visual performance as a result of safety hazards or environment influences.

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

    Telehealth: Knowledge of Telehealth processes and procedures.

    Travel Required

    50% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position.
