    Physician - Ambulatory Primary Care Clinics

    Physicians provide care with a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) that is patient-driven, proactive, personalized, team-based care focused on wellness and disease prevention resulting in Veteran satisfaction, improved healthcare and costs. Our patient centric approach teams up physicians with an RN Case Manager, LPN, and an administrative clerk.

    Responsibilities

    Common duties of the position may include:

    • Physician will provide primary care outpatient services to all patients assigned to them. The provider will manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
    • Primary providers in the outpatient setting are assigned a panel of patients to manage.
    • Alternative or collateral duties may include management of a subsection of primary care patients.
    • During employment, participation in special projects pertinent to assigned sub-specialty may be necessary as the projects become available with strategic or other initiatives.
    Work Schedule: Typical schedules are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday but we do offer some flexibility to this schedule and can be discussed during your interview. Additionally, in rotation with other primary care providers, you will see patients in a half day Saturday clinic. You will receive compensated time off for each Saturday you work. Saturday rotations typically come up once every 90 days. Full time providers will work 80 hours every two weeks unless on leave status.

    Qualifications
    To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/30/2020.
    Basic Requirements:
    • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
    • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
    • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
    • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
    • Physical requirements outlined below.
    Preferred Experience: Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.

    Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

    Physical Requirements: Placement in this position is subject to meeting the physical requirements of the position. This includes: Walking (up to 2 hours); standing (up to 2 hours); Light and moderate lifting (up to 44 lbs.) light to moderate carrying (up to 44 lbs); straight pulling and pushing, reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted).

    ACLS or BLS may be required to be maintained as a condition of employment.

    Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Authorized This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA. If selected for this position you must meet specific individual eligibility criteria in accordance with VHA policy 1021 and apply for EDRP within four (4) months of appointment. Final award amount and program start date is determined after review of a complete EDRP application and supporting documentation by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.     Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
    Paid Time Off: Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period.
