The Primary Care Provider (Physician) is responsible for assessment and care of new and returning patients with multiple medical problems, ordering diagnostics, consultations, medications and other therapies as medically indicated on an urgent need basis, meeting preventative health maintenance needs, completing all required VA computer documentation including clinical reminders and screenings, adhering to all VA Clinical Practice Guideline elements.

Functions as the Physician, Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), Primary Care Services, Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) setting at the Montana VA Health Care System (MTVAHCS). Responsible for providing medical care in an outpatient setting following PACT principles. May provide medical care using Telehealth for remote patients or travel to other CBOC's to cover provider shortage. Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings to achieve a patient centered, holistic approach for clinical care and needs of the Veteran, focusing on continuous improvement of critical team processes. Ensures the patient's care plan contains medical recommendations for clinically indicated care. Ensures the patient's care plan contains medical recommendations for clinically indicated care. Ongoing, continuous care of one or more assigned panel(s) of Veterans providing health education and health coaching on wellness, disease prevention, chronic care management and self-management skills to patients and personal support persons. The incumbent must be able to work collaboratively with ancillary staff including nursing and clerical staff and on-site Mental Health Providers.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 to 4:30 or as agreed upon with the possibility of extended hours and weekends.
NOTE: Candidates must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours. The candidate must be willing to be assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary.

- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: 2-3 years as a primary care physician. Board eligible in primary care or family care medicine.
Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, kneeling, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time physicians at the rate of 26 days per leave year (1 day per pay period).
