Summary

Serves as the Logistics Program Support Assistant (LPSA) for the Logistics Service in a VA Health Care System (VAHCS) and supported catchment area. The position has administrative responsibility, accountability, and oversight for the Logistics programs and activities across the full jurisdiction of the health care system. The position reports directly to the Facility Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO).

Duties

The Logistics Program Support Assistant (LPSA) assists the Administrative Officer (AO) to coordinate and implement all the administrative activities of the service. Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Program Support- Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and /or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Logistics Service program operation.
  • Clerical Support- Provides clerical contact support for Logistics Service including answering phones, scheduling interviews and office appointments, tracking and monitoring deadlines, and coordinating with Human Resources
  • Customer Service- Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA Missions. Employee with take initiative in resolving issues and refer complex problems to their immediate supervisor, with proposed alternative solutions.
  • Timekeeping- Serves as the official timekeeper for the site and maintains timecards for all employees.
  • Personal/Professional Development/Training- : Follows guidelines consisting of established procedures and specific guidelines in the form of agency policies and procedures, VA/VHA Directives, Handbooks, federal codes and specific related regulations pertinent to training and administrative protocol.
  • Local travel to and from the main facility as needed.


Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Requires some physical effort such as standing, sitting, walking, or bending. There are no special physical demands. The work is performed in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts. Normal safety precautions are adequate.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

GS-06 grade level: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes meeting deadlines, monitoring and following up with human resources, maintaining and filing documents, onboarding new employees, data analysis, knowledge of rules, regulations, procedures throughout many areas including human resources, knowledge of specialized platforms such as USA Staffing, ePas, HR Smart, LEAF, VATAS, yourIT, yourHR etc., Microsoft Office software programs such as MS Word and Excel, One Drive, and Teams

There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
  • Clerical- Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms.
