The Mental Health/Home Based Primary Care (MH/HBPC) Psychologist provides half time mental health outpatient and half time home based primary care. Care will consist of, but is not limited to; mental health screenings, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment of a wide variety of mental health disorders serving both outpatient mental and home based primary care in Casper, Wyoming and surrounding areas. .

Clinical Responsibilities (90% of time)
At the GS 13 level, the following clinical activities are expected in the assignment for Mental Health Outpatient/Home Based Primary Care Psychologist:
Diagnosis mental disorders, conducts psychological and or neuropsychological assessments, treats mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.Among the modalities provided are individual, family and group psychotherapies, and other interventions such as biofeedback, psychological hypnosis, and environmental interventions.They consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.
Providing screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of cognitive deficits to address specific questions or to determine is a referral for a complete neuropsychological evaluation or dementia assessment is needed.
Provide screening assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of depressive disorders, anxiety-related disorders, and serious mental illness, as well as other Mental Health conditions.
Perform capacity/competency assessments when there are questions about a Veteran'sability to make medical decisions, perform other specific functions, or live independently.
Assessing the understanding of advanced directives and other forms of consent and assisting staff in determining how to present options and other such material in a format they can understand.
Providing individual and group interventions to support residents that are coping with feelings of grief and loss associated with disability, adjustment to the nursing home environment, and other life transitions.
Providing behavioral medicine interventions to manage pain, disability, address sleep problems, facilitates weight loss, promote smoking cessation, and enhance medical compliance.
Other duties as assigned by Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) or Administrative Officer of Mental Health.
Program Evaluation (10% of time)
Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Healthcare System, as appropriate.
