    The primary purpose of this position is to conduct applied research in area of modeling atmospheric optical turbulence and its effect on high energy laser systems. Leads and conducts field campaigns to characterize atmospheric optical turbulence an its variability. Analyzes data and conducts research to develop models in order to enable the forecasting of optical turbulence.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs physics and scientific related work requiring the design, development, and adaptation of technological, mathematical, statistical, and other scientific methods and techniques to support Space Control analysis.
    • Conducts applied research in area of modeling and simulation of various threats to satelites in orbits and possible defense or mitgation of these threats.
    • Performing basic and applied research on solar and solar wind activity on the geospace environment and AF systems.
    • Lead, formulate and conduct basic and applied research through analysis of space, air and ground experiments, in order to develop innovative techniques in space-based hyperspectral imaging data collection and analysis,
    • Coordinates and performs complete studies and analysis to support Space Control Oeprations.
    • Utilizes scientific inquiry in devleopment of software tools as required for Space Control analysis.
    • Coordinates and performs space control analysis functions and projects required to support current and future space control operational requirements.
    • Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts.
    • Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency.
