Incumbent will provide supervision and direction for newborn nursery staff and the development of a level II nursery. Position is in the Women and Infant Service Line (WISL) department and reports to the Director of WISL.
The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3. - Provides independent care to families and newborns in accordance with national and IHS standards, and within established policies of the hospital and Women and Infant Service Line.
- Provide leadership, direction, and expertise for all activities related to the neonatal service.
- Determines program goals and objectives for neonatal health care in service unit areas. Sets neonatal standards and protocols for care.
- Collaborates in the care of newborn infants as needed. Initiates and provides emergency care measures in the event complications occur (i.e., resuscitation, treatment of hemorrhage and shock, starts intravenous therapy, prescribes and administers medications.
