Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Aquatics/Programs)
This position is located at the Outdoor Recreation Center, Bldg. 973, with the 35th Force Support Squadron
Supervises the planning, manning, directing and operational oversight of the indoor recreational pool and Outdoor Recreation Programs.
This is a Regular Full time category position; guaranteed 40 hours a week.
Plans schedules, determines performance standards, effects hiring, promoting, motivating, disciplining, and separating employees for aquatics and outdoor programmers. Interviews candidates for positions, recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignments. Effects minor discipline, recommends actions, develops training and develops standards. Counsels and coaches employees,· supports EEO program, approves leave and meets with employee representatives when necessary, Organizes, promotes and schedules swim lessons, swim meets, special events and daily activities to address differing needs of the base populace. Plans a large outdoor recreation program, supplies, and equipment for a yearly calendar and forecasts 5-year long range plans. Organizes, plans, advises and assesses results for recreation programs designed to stimulate and .sustain interests of the base populace. Serves as the subject matter expert for pool aquatics and outdoor recreation facilities to include technical aspects of water chemical treatments, safety training, certification assessments, and the effects of environmental conditions vs safety for programs. Independently coordinates with Bioenvironmental and Wing Safety to ensure standards, reports, and facility deficiencies are compliant or corrected in a timely manner. Counsels lifeguards and assesses swim lessons to ensure they meet Red Cross standards and works with parents, guardians to ensure students are progressing within each level. May be required to work other than normal duty hours which include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. As Program Supervisor for Outdoor Recreation responsible for: developing activities/tours, special events, and joint community functions to include all financial planning, budgets, goals and after-action reports. Performs other duties as deemed necessary by program director.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Must have the following: Aquatic Facility Operator certification plus CPR, AED, and first aid certifications. Must have experience in: training, camping, fishing, scuba, skiing, skeet/trap, paintball, boating, swimming, financial budgets, preparing rules, leading group activities, and safety guidelines/risk assessment procedures. Must have supervisory experience. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to deal with customers, counsel staff members, and resolve conflicts. Must be able to pass all required in-processing and annual training classes deemed necessary by the supervisor. Must be able to physically and frequently lift, handle, and carry objects weighing up to 70lbs. Must be able to work uncommon tour of duty (evenings, weekends, and holidays). Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check.
