Duties
- Provides firearms instruction to patrons in formal classes in accordance with established, approved lesson plans and training outlines from national, state and local firearms authorities.
- Ensures the safe and efficient conduct of both classroom and live-fire range sessions, and ensures proper transfer of knowledge of firearms safety, and firearms manipulation techniques.
- Independently administers classes, ensuring ranges and classrooms are reserved, adequate targets and training aids are present, and that sufficient safety personnel / equipment are on hand to conduct the training.
- Conducts proper NRA range safety briefings prior to any live-fire event and ensures that NRA procedures for no live ammunition and/or functioning firearms in the classroom are enforced.
- Submits electronic class reports for NRA and / or State/Local accrediting authorities within five working days after course conclusion.Retains class records for instruction. C

- Subject to the provisions of the LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT.
- This is a mandatory drug testing position.
- The position requires the use of firearms.
- Incumbent must possess acceptable credentials at time of application at a minimum: NRA Basic Pistol.
- Instructor and State Issued License to Carry Instructor.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated work experience and/or training credentials that provide direct evidence of the ability to instruct students in the usage of firearms for sporting or self-defense purposes.
- Must have NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Certification and a state issued License to Carry Instructor Certification.
- Must possess experience in instructional techniques sufficient to provide subject matter classroom instruction and live-fire range training.
- This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; on the job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving the application of principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject matter field of the position to be filled.
