Summary

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation (BGSF) was established by Congress in 1986 to honor the service of Senator Barry Goldwater and to identify, encourage, and financially support college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise of becoming the nation's next generation of research leaders in science, engineering, and mathematics (Public Law 99-661). Over its 38-year history, the Foundation has recognized over 10,000 students as Goldwater Scholars.

Duties

  • Promptly reviews and routes incoming inquiries and assists in the creation, distribution, and maintenance of official documents, reports, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to government standards.
  • Prepares meeting minutes and other materials for review and signature. Supports the organization and maintenance of electronic filing systems. Edits materials prepared by others for accuracy, proper grammar, and spelling.
  • Collaborates with the Administrative Officer to perform a variety of tasks related to general administrative functions and procedures. Receives and disseminates mail and prepares invoices and receipts.
  • Assists the President and staff with formulating operational and budgetary estimates, plans, orders, and reports. Works with the Foundation staff to conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Performs a variety of program operation tasks. Compile, analyze, and present data using spreadsheets, databases, and other software. Prepare reports and presentations for review.

Qualifications

You must meet the following qualification requirement: have at least one year of specialized work experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly related to the line of work of this position and has equipped you with the knowledge and competencies to successfully perform the duties of this position. More specifically, this requirement involves experience in providing administrative and technical support for an organization. (examples are: gathering and analyzing information to present to management, reviewing correspondence for grammatical and format accuracy and for procedural and regulatory compliance, performs administrative coordination and reports, researching, reviewing, and/or disseminating new or revised policies, circulars, directives, regulations, forms and related materials).

Additional information

SERIES/GRADE: The agency uses the Administratively Determined system in which rank is attached to the individual. The salary range for this position is administratively determined to set pay between $68,405 to $88,926 and is equivalent to the General Schedule GS-9 step 1-10 on the Washington, DC locality pay table.

Telework Suitability:
The duties of this position are suitable for occasional telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and if they meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act.

Stipulations of Employment:
Selection for this term position may require serving a 1-year trial period.

Work Schedule:
This position allows for a flexible work schedule.
