The primary purpose of this position is to manage the administrative programs and processes of the organization and serve as a liaison with force support/manpower/personnel offices and key program managers; additionally trains traditional reservists in all tasks of the position.

Duties

Ensure adherence to the requirements of federal laws in replying to, handling, and processing public requests for records and documentary material identified as "official documents" in the Air Force

Interpret instructions and recommend ways to resolve areas of concern with administrative processes

Act as point of contact and project manager for administrative actions concerning tours of duty to include logistical support and lodging

Provide guidance and technical assistance to group/wing staff members and/or geographically separated units (GSUs) regarding publications and forms of preparation and processing procedures, information privacy, confidentiality, security, disclosure and sharing of information.

Serve as the resident subject matter expert for all mandated administrative support programs

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained while managing administrative programs, training personnel in technical processes and procedures, and carrying out projects of a procedural or conventional nature to improve efficiency and productivity of organizations and employees in administrative support activities or organizations of limited size and scope.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  1. Knowledge of common clerical practices and office routines
  2. Skill in integrating a variety of types of software to generate products for a single purpose
  3. Knowledge of personnel documentation and reporting procedures
  4. Knowledge of processes used in the ordering and distribution of forms
  5. Skill in assessing personnel resource requirements
  6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
