Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 INDEFINITE EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AERIAL DELIVERY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2130000 and is part of the CO 5-19th SFG, National Guard.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a multi faceted broad spectrum of aerial delivery functions, necessary for management of day-to-day aerial delivery operations.
Duties
Inspects, maintains, and prepares a variety of aerial delivery equipment for use, to include parachutes, slings, airdrop equipment, etc. Prepares and conducts inspections of external load equipment and external load operations. Performs prioritized airdrop inspections, sequential work is determined, and pertinent ARs, TMs, FMs and DA PAMs have been reviewed. Rigs and prepares unilateral airdrop training loads for airdrops. Performs duties as a Malfunction NCO when assigned. Formulates, implements, and documents programs to train Airborne unit commanders in support of Aerial delivery deployment functions to ensure effective and efficient operations of unit deployment processes. Provides subject matter and technical expertise on air transportation and aerial delivery operations to the Division, Brigade, Group, Battalion, and Company CDRs. Ensures airborne personnel and cargo for transport by air meet proper specifications to maximize safety of aircraft, aircrew, cargo, and passengers. Serves as the Commander's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for orchestrating daily and long-range utilization of the aerial delivery systems to ensure accomplishment of assigned missions as well as support for future missions and deployment operations. Inspects cargo for airlift to verify eligibility and ensures proper documentation, packaging, and marking in accordance with applicable DOD directives. Performs other additional duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
- Hazmat certification within 6 months of employment and recertification every two years.
- Must have valid state and military drivers license.
- Must complete the Joint Airdrop Load Inspector course within one year of employment.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Membership in the Colorado Army National Guard or those eligible to re-enlist or transfer.
- Must hold the grade of E-1 thru E-5.
- Submit all required documentation.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
- Must be willing to attend Military Free Fall Qualification Course.
- Must be Static Line Jumpmaster Qualified or willing to attend within one year.
- May convert to Permanent without further competition.
Qualifications
Military Grades: E-1 thru E-5
1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.

Must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience in inspecting and classifying airdrop items to determine whether items are serviceable, repairable, or beyond economical repair.
2. Experience in airdrop inspections of equipment and personnel, rigging responsibilities, unit deployment training, personnel and cargo manifesting, joint inspection functions, load planning, determining cargo or personnel eligibility, performing the safe and efficient loading and off-loading of DoD-owned and controlled aircraft.
3. Experience in requesting or receiving required repair parts, recording repair times as per appropriate technical manuals and processing close-out work reports.
4. Experience in the testing of parachute and newly issued airdrop equipment, to include conducting drop-tests troop-type personnel parachutes to check proficiency.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
