A 40 hour work week is typical for this position.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Shift work may be required.
Emergency overtime may be required.
Recall to duty may be required.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort is required to maneuver equipment in and out of specific locations while dismantling and reassembling. The work requires frequent carrying and setting-up of parts and equipment that may weigh up to 50 pounds. Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing units such as large compressors, condensers, and chillers. The work requires making repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where the parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard-to-reach places; therefore, stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling are frequent and may be for long periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside and outside, on top of tall buildings, in drafty attic spaces, and in cramped areas with low overheads. Personal protective equipment such as protective clothing, helmets, goggles, respirators, etc. may be required to be worn when there is a possibility of exposure to toxic refrigerants during regular maintenance and repair or when making emergency repairs.
A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
