This position performs maintenance, removal, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair and testing of aircraft engines.

Duties
As a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC (2) WG-8/10, WG-8602-8/10, you will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify and test aircraft engines within the Aviation Classification and Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD).The AVCRAD is an industrial facility that provides sustainment base maintenance in support of regional Army National Guard (ARNG) Aviation assets and supports field maintenance in accordance with ARNG Aviation priorities. The AVCRAD maintenance activities ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and State missions. In addition, the AVCRAD performs National Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Materiel Command (AMC),and prioritized by the National Guard Bureau (NGB).
Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning engines utilizing all available test equipment to determine degree of disassembly, repair, modification, and adjustment needed. Removes and disassembles aircraft engines in order to perform necessary maintenance. Inspects engine components using visual, magnetic, fluorescent, dye- penetrant, and digital inspection equipment such as video borescope and ultra-sonic listening devices. Analyzes inspection findings to determine extent of repairs required. With the aid of diagrams, schematics, and technical publications, makes necessary repairs and modifications. Performs Depot modifications, related to engine systems, on assigned aircraft and associated equipment. Assembles and installs engines adhering to prescribed procedures, safety practices and technical requirements.
Performs engine trim in accordance with applicable directives. Adjusts, aligns and calibrates engine and components to insure maximum operating efficiency and consistency with design characteristics. Employs a variety of test equipment and instruments such as engine pressure-ratio-indicator, exhaust-gas temperature test equipment, fuel flow meter, air pressure indicator, Vibration Analyzer, and flight line digital test equipment. Evaluates engine performance and accepts or rejects engine repair. Guides lower-level mechanics in performance of tasks. Conducts on-the- job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary.
Must have knowledge of applicable technical manuals and other publications pertaining to aircraft engines such as Electronic Technical Manuals (ETM) and Information Logistics Systems(ILS). Maintains a library of pertinent regulations as required. Evaluates justification documentation for unsatisfactory item reports and practicality of proposed modification requests. Records and maintains test data on appropriate log sheets. Assists in identifying stock numbers for required repair parts or in the requisitioning of bench stock materials, parts and equipment as required.
Acquires and maintains currency and proficiency on test equipment and procedures in support of modernized aircraft. May participate in aerial flights, which are defined by applicable Army publications for Maintenance Test Flights for the purpose of observing, recording, and diagnosing malfunctions with digital test equipment, or otherwise assisting in determining the performance of aircraft engine components. Performs Depot modifications, related to Engine systems, on assigned aircraft and associated equipment. Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets. Ensures that material and equipment are properly stored, protected, and maintained and that funds are not obligated for material or parts without proper justification. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations. May be required to serve on maintenance assistance teams throughout supported region.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.

Qualifications
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your ability experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.
WG-08 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must haveat least 12 months of experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modifications to aircraft engines, subassemblies and components.
WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have 18 months experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
